Since retiring from Avaya in 2001, I’ve embarked on a third career as full-time Mom/homemaker. It has its rewarding moments, but I have to admit I fantasize about going back to work ‘outside the home’ someday, to make use of all those years of study. If I was to do it all over again, I’d do environmental engineering or environmental microbiology, both appropriate to these times.
In addition to cooking, shopping, cleaning, chauffeuring, and planning, I’ve been known to be involved with PTL/PTO, school library, and GSA Cookie Mom. When I have time, I like to garden, play piano, go to church/choir, play recorder, camp, hike, read. Still on my list after all this time at home: scrapbooking, filing, cleaning closets…but who wants to do the last two? My most important role is raising my 2 girls to be happy, self-confident, well-rounded adults ready to take on the world. My goal for 2010 is to beat chronic depression…and teach my girls how to avoid it!
